Industrial engines waste approximately 60-80% of the energy contained in the fuel consumed. This waste heat can be captured from both the exhaust gas at high temperature and the cooling system at a lesser temperature. The exhaust gas at the higher temperature is where most of the re-capture comes from and gives the optimal net efficiency.
